R.I.P. Michael Jackson. He was 50.
In the last few days, was rehearsing for his return to concert performances at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. He was found at his home without a pulse.
I was online while it all happened, and as news rushed in - I realized that this may be the quickest that an unexpected event has spread across the world about anything in history, including the 9-11 attacks, due to technological arenas unavailable during 9-11.
That is all for now. Just a few thoughts. I really like his music. My friend and I used to act out MJ music videos. R.I.P. Michael.
Poet/Writer/Actor/Artist Saul Williams gave his thanks via Twitter, "I received a Michael Jackson scholarship from the 25 million he gave UNCF for performing arts students. Thank you Michael Jackson for inspiring & funding my dreams & education."
Rev. Al Sharpton said, "Michael Jackson learned to create even beyond his own shortcomings. Michael Jackson was a trailblazer, an historic figure. He enabled a culture to accept a person of color. It wasn't Tiger Woods, it wasn't Barack Obama. It was Michael Jackson"
Here is a video clip, arguably the moment that cemented Jackson as the King of Pop. He also premiered his famous moonwalk here.
Lisa Marie Presley said, "I am completely shocked and saddened. My heart goes out to his children and his family."
Quincy Jones released a statement on his death, which included, "He was a consumate entertainer.... I've lost my little brother, and part of my soul has gone with him."

Word.
It is a sad day.
A lot of my early memories involve watching and listening to Michael Jackson. May he rest in peace.
So I know this is a weird news source, but on Sportscenter they claimed that people tweeted so much about this that it crashed the Twitter servers. Pretty impressive.
It is nice that he's being remembered for the many remarkable things he did and not so much many of the oddities he exhibited in more recent memory.
